Glenn W. Evans: 1930-2004 1930-2004

Surrounded by family, Glenn died peacefully at the home on the lake he so treasured Wednesday, August 25 at the age of 74. Glenn was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, the youngest of nine children. His lifelong passion for sports included being the Arkansas State boxing champion, playing shortstop for the nationally ranked Doughboys before he became affiliated with the New York Yankees. He was called to serve in the Korean War and played baseball for the Air Force in Japan.
Professionally, Glenn was involved in real estate in Kansas, California and Texas, but his love for the game of golf brought him to the fulfillment of his dreams with the creation of Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, Texas.
A loving brother, father, grandfather, husband and friend, Glenn was predeceased in life by daughter Janet and son Jay. This man’s extraordinary life is reflected in the lives of his family: wife of 31 years, Mary; daughters Kristine Lynn [Henry Muth], Catherine Lee [Bill Jones], Lauren Marie; daughter-in-law Cynthia Diane [Frank Gregory] and five beautiful grandchildren. This man never met a stranger.
Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Riverbend Center Remembrance Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Junior Golf Program.
